Skyline University Nigeria, in a bid to ensure academically-sound graduates who can express practical functionality on their jobs is partnering with Seven-Up Bottling Company Ltd, a soft drinks manufacturer to revolutionize the education sector through the promotion of Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme opportunities. The partnership is expected to facilitate skill training, boost employment employability, promote entrepreneurship opportunities and increase students’ field experience outside the four walls of the university.
Engr. Bashir Garba, the Head of Corporate Affairs Department of the university, who led a 6-man team to Seven-Up Bottling Company Kano, on Tuesday, 17th March, 2020 stated, that structures were being put in place, in line with the success of the partnership to ensure the smooth and gradual shift of students to industrial attachment opportunities. “The exposure to Seven-Up will birth a new experience to the students of Skyline University Nigeria” he added.
According to the Seven-Up General Manager, Mr. Victor Oladele, the relationship will empower the students with the necessary skills required to boost their employability. “I am excited about this development, it is one of the most sustainable ways of helping Nigerian students along their academic qualification become competent employees after graduation”, he explained. He further stated that students, after the completion of their training, would stand above their counterparts in the work environment, and much sought-after.
In her remarks, the university’s Director of Academic Support Services, Ms. Sarada Maganti stated, that based on the university’s international background, Skyline University Nigeria is embarking on this kind of students’ interactions with industries to boost students’ international exposure. She added that the result of this partnership would be integrated into the Students Work Experience Scheme amongst others. This is in line with the university’s vision to become one of the top universities in Nigeria, she emphasized.
Also at the meeting were the Seven-Up Human Resource Manager, Mr. Kunle Sanusi, Dr. Susanta Pahari, a Professor of Chemistry, Skyline University Nigeria and Ms. Nafisa Inuwa, the Corporate Affair Executives of the university.
