The upcoming Nigerian general elections present a rare opportunity for students to exercise their franchise as citizens. SUN Graduate and Brand Ambassador Bags UN’s International Women’s Day Award 2023

Ms. Aisha Zanna, a graduate of Mass Communication, at Skyline University, has not ceased to receive rave awards from the international sphere since her graduation in 2022. She recently bagged the United Nations International Women’s Day Award in the category of Grassroots and Civil Society alongside other women at the just concluded United Nations high-level International Women’s Day Award Gala 2023.  The Gala night which was organized in celebration of the exceptionality of women who are champions in promoting women’s leadership and gender equality in Nigeria was hosted by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This year’s Gala night took place on the 18th of February, 2023, at the residence of the United States Consul General in Ikoyi, Lagos. Originally from Borno State, Ms. Zanna has made notable contributions as an ardent supporter of women’s leadership and empowerment made her secure a partnership deal with Skyline University Nigeria as a Brand Ambassador. In 2020, she made a giant stride in uplifting internally displaced persons in her hometown and she participated as a speaker at the International Forum 2020 in Montréal, at Centre Mont-Royal. Aisha Zanna also made an impeccable presence at the 3rd Annual Knowledge for Prevention Symposium K4P Symposium, in Rwanda in November 2021 and wrapped up 2022 with unmatched excellence when she participated as a Panel Speaker at the 25th Anniversary of the Children and Armed Conflict Mandate 2022. The International Women’s Day Awards is organized in partnership with the Diplomatic missions and Delegations of Australia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the European Union, France, Germany, the UK, and the US. The Gala event will specifically aid in boosting the visibility of outstanding women by, recognizing the notable achievements of Nigerian Women.

The general election is forthcoming and similar to previous elections, it may slightly disrupt a lot of activities within Nigeria. A Highlight of CEO Guest Lecture Series at Skyline University

In a bid to foster a creative learning environment, and enrich students’ personal development and the prospects of entrepreneurship, Skyline University Nigeria held a ‘CEO Guest Lecture Series’, to expose students to the successes of professionals. Mr. Femi Iromini, the CEO of ‘Moni’ spent a qualitative time sharing significant and helpful insights on the essentials of entrepreneurship, as the driving force for youth development not only in Nigeria but around the world. His lecture titled ‘Public Enlightenment on Creation of Wealth’, was specially designed and delivered to captivate the minds of youths and motivate them with inspiration from his experiences with wealth creation as a business professional and CEO. In his words, “There are multiple ways that youths can access to become prosperous in their distinct fields of endeavor. Regardless of their businesses and life goals, wealth creation remains paramount and there are always ways to improve on that”. For Mr. Femi, ‘Students at Skyline University are blessed with bountiful opportunities to realize their monetary goals among others. The digital space available allows for networking and supports the exploration of wealth creation. This alone places the students above their equals.’ He further explained that the 21st century is transforming rapidly, and youths will have to keep up with global demands to remain relevant. While making his remarks, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President of Skyline University, Haruna Lawan Baffa, expressed his utmost gratitude to the management of the University for inviting Mr. Femi to talk on a very topical issue, especially for the youths. He said that a large number of youths are rushing to acquire wealth without the knowledge and principles of wealth creation, at a time when the business of online currency dealings is booming. Mr. Haruna then appealed to the management to invite more people who have excelled in various entrepreneurial businesses to help students tailor their careers in the right direction, which will also help equip students with the right information. Skyline University Nigeria and Covenant University Sign MoU on Research, Teaching, and Community Service

Skyline University Nigeria and Covenant University, two leading private higher education institutions in Nigeria, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the areas of teaching, research, and community service. The MoU aims to enhance the academic and research opportunities for students, faculty, and staff of both institutions by providing opportunities for joint research projects, academic exchanges, conferences, and workshops. The collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of education and research in Nigeria by fostering a dynamic learning environment and encouraging innovation in line with global best practices. SUN Student Aisha Kabir Wins Top Prize at 2023 COE Startup Challenge

The Centre for Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (COE) Startup Challenge competition for students of Skyline University Nigeria reached its climax today (Tuesday 31st January 2023). Following the successful pitch of her business plan against 8 other competitors, Aisha Kabir, a 300-level student of the Entrepreneurship Department, was crowned the winner, receiving N5,000,000 investment, to accelerate her company ‘Care Home Plus’, an organization that provides care services for the Elderly. The competition, followed a challenging pitching process in front of a panel of business experts, including Mr PK Gulati, the President Emeritus, of TIE Dubai, Ms Sicily George, the Executive Director, of TIE Dubai, Mr Sriram, Venkateswaren, the Chairman, of FullMark Group, Mrs.Anju Ganglani is Head Mistress of Prime Primary School, Prime College Kano, Mr Babangida Mohammad, the Manager of Contact Operations at 9mobile, Hajia Khaulat Idris Abubakar Bebeji, the CEO KMIA Medical Store and a host of other respective Judges. The competitors, Maryam Nawar Nour Hanga, Ahmad Nura Umar, Aliyu Farouk, Aisha Kabir, Fatima Ahmad Nuhu, Aliyu Muhammad Atiku, Fatima Ibrahim, Amina Ali Ibrahim, Aisha Abdulaziz all showed creativity in their business pitch but the competition allowed only one winner to emerge with the best prize. On announcing the winner, the Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria, Prof. Ajith Kumar V.V said, “This is a fantastic prize. Projects like this provide students with an incredible step up, giving them access to angel investors, mentors and support during a crucial stage of their business.” Winning the competition Aisha said, “This award will give me the room to be creative and the space to push out my business plan to execution and create a strong brand.
