SUN Students Exposed to Think Investment in Youth Enterprise at ‘How I Got There III’ Webinar

Mr. Ahmad Nuhu, the CEO of Wamball Group, has encouraged students of Skyline University Nigeria to think about investment in youth enterprise as this would not only provide employment prospects to youth but will have an impact on economic growth through new jobs, increased competition, and innovation. “There is always the chance for young entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into successful businesses that will not only benefit the individual but the society as well”, he stated. He said this much, amongst others on Saturday, 30th October 2021 at ‘How I Got There III’ Webinar, organized by the office of the Event Coordinator of the Skyline University Nigeria, Ms. Nafisa Inuwa. The event is occasionally organized by the University, to help students decide which field they should work in, which extracurricular activities and hobbies they should invest time and attention to, and how they should conduct themselves while building their careers. While noting some of the experiences incurred on his business journey, Mr. Ahmad Nuhu stated that What holds the youth back is the decision to give their all to make it work in business, noting that a lot of youth going into business hardly ever endure the waiting period before the profits. He mentioned creativity and innovation as the driving force for any successful business and described passion as what will determine the future of their business. The guest speaker enlightened the students on the emerging skills needed in establishing a successful business. As he puts it, these skills include time management, team-building, analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, marketing and financial management skills.  The webinar was attended by management, Staff and Students of the university, as well as members of the general public.

Skyline University Nigeria Gets Approval to Run B.Sc Tourism and Hospitality Management

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has secured a formal approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run full-time undergraduate degree in B.Sc Tourism and Hospitality Management in the 2021/2022 academic session. This was disclosed on 27th October 2021, following a letter by the NUC to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ajith Kumar V.V. The approval was sequel to the recent visit by members of the NUC on resource verification to the University. By this approval, the university is expected to commence accept admission from credible candidates seeking to study Tourism and Hospitality Management with the University. The approval according to the Letter by the NUC, followed the recommendation of the panel of experts from the commission which carried out a resource verification visit to assess the human and material resources available for the establishment of the Programmeme. This would be in addition to the 15 Programmemes on offer at the University. These Programmemes include Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics with Electronics, Mathematics, Computer Science & Information Systems, Software Engineering and Geology in the School of Science and Information Technology (SSIT) as well as Political Science, International Relations, Journalism and Mass Communication, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, International Business, Business Administration, Economics in the schools of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS). With Tourism and Hospitality Management, and the recently approved Nursing and Physiotherapy under the school of Basic Medical Science, students seeking admission into Skyline University Nigeria will have all the quality of Programmemes on offer. SUN Faculty Suggests Effective Security Culture to Crime Deterrence in Nigerian Airports

Dr. Olumide Abraham Ajayi, a Lecturer at the School of Art, Management and Social Science and current Head of Department of the General Studies Department of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) has reiterated the importance of effective security culture in combatting crime to the barest minimum in Nigerian Airports. He made this statement recently while presenting his keynote address at the National Aviation Security Week in conformity with the directives of Airport Council International (ACI) on 26th October 2021. The event with the theme ‘Promotion of Security Culture in Nigerian Airport’ was organized at Mallam Aminu Kano Int’l Airport, Kano to promote security awareness and improve the public perception about the National Aviation Security. Dr. Ajayi who spoke extensively on the topic, “Reinvigorating Effective Security Culture at Mallam Aminu Kano Int’l Airport”, stated that security is an integral part of civil aviation operations and products offered to the public, hence the need for effective security culture at the Airport. He stated that this will guard against a series of threats that could cause physical, reputational, or financial damage to people and the entire country. In his opinion, the greatest threat to Airport security is those who might breach security for personal reasons. He suggested that the Airport Security System conducts proper background checks before recruitment of operatives; employ well-trained, well-motivated professionals; create awareness on the importance of effective security culture, provide security equipment & gadgets in line with the best practice in the Aviation sector; provide a conducive working environment for employees; reward excellent performance and punish erring officials and make security the responsibility of everyone in the organization. While stating that policy and strategy, duty assignment, assessment, decision, feedback and implementation are some of the variables of security culture review model that will Increase patronage at the Airport. He added that it will, in turn, bring about the promotion of foreign direct investment, Peace of mind and genuine trust in the system, amongst others. He applauded the Airport Council International (ACI) for organizing such Programmemes that will benefit not only the Airport officials but the Country as well.

Youth Leadership is Fundamental to Success, Says Expert

Facilitator at the recently held ‘Changing Gear’ seminar, Mr. Farid Illo, has advised students of Andal Science Academy, Kano to strive to develop vital skills in youth leadership. Without this, it becomes difficult for young people to develop leadership competencies that will make them better able to solve community problems and enhance their civic participation. He gave this note, amongst others on Saturday, 23rd October 2021. The ‘Changing Gear’ seminar is one of the events organized by Skyline University Nigeria to equip the young generation with knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the global world. While making his presentation on the theme, ‘Youth Leadership in 21st Century’, Mr. Farid outlined some of the benefits of youth leadership. “Investing in youth leadership ensures that the future generation is equipped with necessary competencies”. He added that in all levels of leadership, Ethics, Trust, Respect, Integrity, and Confidence are important attributes while Decision making, Allocation of resources, Problem-solving and planning are some of the vital skills that students should learn. He further stated that a student who can successfully lead will need to have a positive mindset, learn to accommodate new ways of doing things, avoid complaining, become a deep listener and softly use constructive criticism and correction. The Vice-Chancellor of the Skyline University Nigeria, Dr. Ajith Kumar V.V, making his remarks, stated that providing leadership training prepares youth to manage time, work in a team setting, set goals, start conversations, facilitate meetings and manage effective communications. He advised the students to take advantage of the training to cultivate a passion for leadership building. “Youth leadership Programmes provide youth with the skills necessary to guide others, influence opinions and policy, and become as role models for their peers”. The VC stated. The event came to an end with a remark by the university’s Director of Academic Support Services, Ms. Sarada Maganti, who advised the students to take up courses that can help them pursue their passion during their degree pregramme. SUN Officials Pays Courtesy Visit to Bichi Emirate Council, Kano

Officials of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) led by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ajith Kumar V.V, and the Head of Corporate Affairs, Engr. Bashir Garba has paid a courtesy visit to the Bichi Emirate Council, Kano.  The visit which took place on Tuesday, 12th October 2021 was aimed to promote existing academic cooperation between the Bichi Emirate Council and SUN. The Vice-Chancellor, making his remarks during the visit, congratulated the Emir of Bichi, Alh. Nasiru Ado Bayero for the remarkable works experienced during his reign and highlighted the University’s plan in Kano and Nigeria as a whole. Particularly, how it will promote robust human and capital development not only amongst the students of the University but in Nigeria and the world over. According to Him, Skyline University Nigeria has entered its fourth year of academic excellence, where it’s looking forward to graduating its first batch of applicants. He solicits the Emirs’ support for the University. In his response, the Emir of Bichi thanked the SUN officials for the visit and promised to support the university in any capacity possible. He urged the university to continue to set the standard for other tertiary institutions in the north and other parts of the country.

The Start of a New Semester Marks More Than Just the Start of a New Class

The start of a new semester can be very exciting, not only for returning students but for the new students as well, who are looking to make a name for themselves. This fall semester 2021/2022 session, is indeed an interesting time to be a student of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN). Apart from the many priorities that students will need to juggle around, for different reasons, students returning to campus this semester have nothing to panic about. The University has put in place, the right resources that allow and support students to achieve their academic and career goals. For new students, this semester may mark their first time living outside the comfort of their parents’ houses. Hence, there may be some confusion about how things are done in the University, where to go to get help and what to do, etc. Collectively, individual staff members, faculty, and management play an important role in creating a safe and welcoming campus and ensuring a safe study environment. Students’ safety is top of priority as the University is always committed to providing the safest possible campus environment. It is the responsibility of everyone, both at the individual and departmental level, to take an active role in looking after students’ safety and contributing to the overall development of the students. Apart from the academics and extra-curricular activities associated with learning, some of these safety measures, such as regular hand washing/frequent use of sanitizers, keeping a distance of at least 6 feet from others and wearing a mask will continue to be some of the most important things students can do to stay safe, while they pursue their career studies. Students are encouraged to get vaccinated and share their vaccination status with the University.
