A well-rounded education for the development of complete human being is a fundamental target of Skyline University, Nigeria. Pursuant to the realization of this objective, sporting and recreational facilities including field sports (Football Pitch, Basket Ball Court, Volley Ball Court, Lawn Tennis Court) and indoor games (Table Tennis, Squash Court and Badminton Court) are provided for students of Skyline University, Nigeria and are opened to the university community on daily basis from 4pm – 7pm. This will give them an opportunity for physical fitness, good health and the development of a salutary spirit of competition outside the academic sphere.
The Skyline University, Nigeria has established a Security Unit at takeoff which cater for the security of lives and property of students and staff on campus. The Security Unit, located at the ground floor of the main building, is under the direct supervision of a professionally qualified and trained Chief Security Officer. He is directly supervised by the Vice-Chancellor.
The unit is well-equipped, it has well-trained staff and is adequately funded. The unit is closely linked with security agencies of Government such as the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and State Security Service (SSS) to tackle unforeseen security challenges that may arise.
The Security Unit at SUN also strives to maintain a safe, secured and healthy campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors by developing partnerships within the university community to effectively address security concerned matters. The unit work closely with local law enforcement and community response teams to ensure the environment in which we all work and live is safe.
There is a University Health Centre which will offer 24-hour service with doctors being in attendance between at 7 am and 5.00 p.m. every day except on Sundays and on-call rosters for the rest of the day and night. The University Health Centre has a Consulting Room, Nurses Bay, a Medical Laboratory, Treatment Room, Medical Records Section, and a Pharmacy. There are also two (2) Observation Rooms of five (5) bed capacity each, for Male and Female patients respectively.
The services at the Centre are more of out-patients, emergency, and uncomplicated cases. More serious cases are referred to the nearby Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital with which the University has a Referral arrangement.
Arrangements are being made to enroll all students of the university into the Tertiary Institutions Students Health Insurance Program (TISHIP) under the Federal Government’s National Health Insurance Scheme.
Arrangements have been made with Unity Bank Plc based on which a branch of the bank was opened on the university campus, at the ground floor of the Main Building, for the provision of commercial banking services to the students and the general university community. These services are also accessible to the neighboring community. The services of the bank, which include a collection of school fees, payment of staff salaries, students accounts, etc are available to staff and students for 24hrs and on daily basis using the Automated Teller Machines (ATM).
A Students Centre has been established in the university directly behind the 16 stories Main Building and adjacent the Plant Room. It is overseen by the Dean of Students Affairs who is directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor. It consists of a Dining Hall, a provision store, a Commercial Business Centre, a hairdressing and barbing saloon, commercial laundries and some facilities for indoor games towards meeting the non- academic daily needs of the students, with regard to their welfare and recreation. Other student support services provided at the Centre include restaurants, snack bars, and bookshop.
